Factors Affecting the Digital Divide

Government: India has a stable government but lacks diversity in political parties, If more political parties had a chance to dominate, India might make an effort to expand availability of communications technologies.

Education: Because of the extreme poverty in India, education among the poor scarce.

Economics: India's economy is struggling. The economy still depends mainly on agriculture and hand made goods. The GDP per capita in India is low, but increasing slowly.

Infrastructure: India has far more main phone lines than mobile phone lines, although much of the population does have access to communication technologies.
