Robot-assisted minimally invasive surgery is a new trend in modern surgical practice and it confers a propensity for faster recovery and a shorter hospital stay – the two most desirable primary outcomes in the patients’ and the health sector’s perspectives respectively. Much smaller skin incision is necessary and better cosmesis can be achieved. This reduces incision wound-related complications occurred in conventional open surgeries.

We are developing novel devices and instruments, sensing and tracking devices and methods, and imaging processing technologies for minimally invasive surgery.
