The Submission Display Options control what students see after they have submitted their answers.

Student's answers

Allow student to see his/her answers to the questions.

Correct answers

Allow student to see the correct answers.

Best used for formative assessments.

The screenshot above assumes the Student's answers option was checked as well.

Total marks

Show student's score and the total marks for the quiz.

Marks obtained for each question

Show:

  • marks available for each question,
  • whether the answer was marked right or wrong,
  • marks the student scored for each question, and
  • graphical summary of correct/wrong answers overall.

The graphical summary, pictured above, is shown at the bottom of the submission display.

Custom feedback for individual attempts

Shows your feedback to each student for a specific individual attempt.


The screenshot above assumes the Total Marks option was checked as well.

Where to input custom feedback for individual attempts?

Note: Custom feedback for individual attempts can only be done after there are Quiz attempts.

  1. Enter the respective Quiz.
  2. Click the Results tab.
  3. Mouseover the ellipsis (three dots) of the attempt, then click the pencil (edit icon).
  4. Click Give Overall Feedback button in the center of the page.
  5. Type your feedback in the text field, and click the mouse outside the box, you will see the message Student Feedback Saved.

General feedback for each question

Show the (1) general feedback, as well as (2) custom feedback or each question.

The general feedback for each question text field is toggled by the comment button on the top right of each question in the Build tab.

2. Custom feedback for individual questions (Lecturer's comment)

This is per student per question feedback.

Note: Custom feedback for individual questions can only be done after there are Quiz attempts.

  1. Enter the respective Quiz.
  2. Click the Results tab.
  3. Click the student's name, who you want to comment on some/all of their answers.
  4. Mouseover the ellipsis (three dots) of the question, then click the pencil (edit icon).
  5. Add your feedback, directed to that student for that question, in the Comment field.
  6. Click Save.

When do you want students to see the above results and feedback?

You control when the students are able to see the results and feedback above.

You can choose to display the results and feedback:

  • immediately after each attempt, or
  • during a set period.

Note that for quizzes that allow multiple attempts, the results and feedback are shown for each attempt.

Each link in the student's screen below links to the results and feedback for that particular attempt.
