Abstract

This proposal has identified the need for a wider adoption of e-learning in NUS. Currently NUS implements the E-learning Week which is held every semester for one week in one selected faculty. However, the benefits that can be realized through e-learning go beyond disaster preparedness. Various tools and methods have been developed to enhance the learning experience. Also, students are increasingly in favor of using e-learning tools in their learning.

Interviews with the NUS IVLE team, a deputy head of department and a deputy director at CDTL have strongly suggested that a top-down approach to prescribe e-learning tools and methods would not work. Hence the approach of the recommendations proposed focuses on creating an environment that would encourage and motivate members of teaching faculty to explore new methods of lesson delivery, automated assessments and detailed tracking of students’ progress by leveraging on e-learning tools that would fit their teaching needs.
